Inrush Current Limiters (icL)
ICLs are typically made of NTC thermistors. These thermistors have a characteristic where their resistance decreases as temperature increases. When the thermistor is cold (at room temperature or below), its resistance is relatively high, limiting current flow. As it heats up due to the passage of current, its resistance decreases, allowing steady-state current to flow unimpeded.
