Prescaler
A prescaler is a circuit or component used in electronic systems to divide the frequency of an input signal by a fixed integer value. It is commonly employed in frequency counters, frequency synthesizers, phase-locked loops (PLLs), and other applications where frequency division is required.
The main purpose of a prescaler is to reduce the frequency of a high-frequency input signal to a lower frequency that is more manageable for subsequent processing or measurement. It allows systems to operate at lower frequencies while still being able to handle higher-frequency signals.
