The Texas Instruments CD74HC4017M96 is a wired and preset Decade Counter with Decoded Outputs with Ripple Carry and Clock Inhibit functionality. It is basically an IC that is used to count from 0 up to 9. It functions as a 5-stage Johnson counter with 10 decoded outputs and ripple-clock inputs. The CD74HC4017M96 is made up of four cascaded type D flip-flops, in which each have two inputs (Direct/Preset and Clock/Inhibit). The outputs of the four stages are connected via a decoder which generates the ten output signals. All outputs can be reset to zero simultaneously by using the Preset Input. Clock Inhibit can disable the clock while allowing reset.The CD74HC4017M96 is built using high performance and high-noise immunity CMOS technology. It has an operating voltage of 2 V to 6 V and a maximum clock frequency of 20 MHz. The CD74HC4017M96 is a versatile IC that is used in synchronous decade counters, frequency dividers, programmable dividers, PLL circuits, frequency synthesizers and analog-to-digital converters. It is suitable for applications such as security systems, automotive electronics, robotic systems and many more.
